| | PCD -- Beep | ] | This week has been very, very chill. You know what? I like chill. I've played basketball for about a million hours this week for no real reason other than I like basketball. That's what it's all about, and that's what it should be about. I've been caught up in the whole basketball-star-career-fame-money pressure before and lost sight of the game. Since I was shot last year, though, my perspectives have changed. We've got one life to live, and I want to play basketball and enjoy it. My dad doesn't feel me, and our opposing perspectives have been clashing lately. I've just got to do me. I can't please him and myself at the same time if that's the way that he wants to be, and that's all I can do.
I don't have much exciting to write, but that's okay because I'm feeling pretty mellow and philosophical right now, in case you can't tell. That said, I'm going to finish this update, and it might not be that entertaining, but I'm attributing that to the fact that even though I have a new icon, I'm not cool enough to be eating a snow cone in it. |

| | Jigga -- H.O.V.A. | ] | I have to give a big thanks to Darcy, my best friend, for reminding me about the season finale of Flavor of Love tonight. I still haven't caught the episodes before that one, but maybe they'll replay them tonight. The Academy Awards are also on, but Flava Flav is my number one priority on television. Sorry, Oscar.
This has been quite possibly the most boring week of my life. I'm always down for hanging out, so send an IM my way and we can hook something up. |

| | D4L -- Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It | ] | The new life of Jimmy Brooks as a single man has it's ups and downs. For example, right now on any other Sunday, I would probably be on the phone with Hazel. Instead, I'm updating my livejournal and wishing that Flavor of Love was on. It's a little slow and a little bit boring right now, but that's just right now.
Alex and I hung out the other day and went to the movies. She's a cool girl. I'm glad that she's not with Jay anymore because Jay is a selfish, disgusting loser and she deserves a lot better than that.
Darcy: We are taking pictures soon, and that is that. |

| | Nelly ft. Paul Wall -- Grillz | ] | Thankfully, Craig's sleepover wasn't so girly that I had to leave. I was scared, though: Craig Manning plus Marco plus a bunch of girls equals too much estrogen for me, even though I love the ladies. Craig and Marco don't count as ladies, though, even though they're pretty close. Alex and I had a good time having drinks and stealing Marco's popcorn. How could I not have a good time with that?
Valentine's Day was pretty much a bust. I messed up because Hazel had wanted to go to a nice restaurant where I would have to make reservations at, but I had forgotten until the day before when the reservations were already filled up. We went to a less classy restaurant instead, and when we were going to the movies, she wanted to see a movie that was already sold out. I would of been content with anything, but Hazel was pretty upset the entire evening, so it wasn't quite the romance that I was hoping for.
I'm going to finish this update up. I'm going to try to go to bed before too much longer because I'm going to the park tomorrow around noon to play basketball with some kids in the park. It should be grand. |

| | Kanyeeee ft. Adam Levine -- Heard 'Em Say | ] | The past days of Jimmy Brooks have consisted of umm... the same things that they always do, which is basketball, Hazel, school, and that's about it. It's pretty jealousy-inducing. Actually, I do have one new addition to my every day list, and that's being harassed by Marco. God, Marco, you need to get laid, and not from a straight guy, so you should just go ahead and give that up. I think that you and Ernie are a good match. Hahaha.
I watched Flavor of Love earlier today, and Flava Flav is a trip. I love Hazel and all, but shoot, he is a lucky, lucky man to have all of those women fawning over him. But no, I'm a one man kind of guy, so I guess that that fantasy is pretty much nixed.
Valentine's Day is coming up. What are all of your plans? I guess mine aren't of any surprise. Hazel and I are going to go out to eat and to a movie. I understand all of the bitter single people's complaints about how it's a commercial holiday, and I never really go crazy over it, but you know me. I love the ladies, and I love to get and give attention from them, so I like February 14.
Tomorrow is Craig's sleepover, and I'll be there, but if it's an extravagently girly affair, then I'm leaving. Sorry, man, I don't do the chick flick thing unless Hazel is making me. |

| | Jamie Foxx ft. Ludacris -- Unpredictable | ] | Well, ladies and gentlemen, the name is Brooks.. Jimmy Brooks. I am currently in grade twelve at Degrassi Community School in Toronto where I am captain of the varsity boys' basketball team, and I'm eighteen. I have an amazing girlfriend whose name is Hazel Aden. I live with my parents, and I'm an only child. I hate introductions and I'm ending this lame paragraph right here.
I'm a pretty laid back kind of guy. Whenever I am not cool with someone, I have good reason to be. I play(ed?) bass with Downtown Sasquatch, but a certain drum player of ours is on my short Not Cool list, and we haven't exactly practiced together for a while. To make a long story short, Spinner Mason and I used to be best friends until he indirectly caused me to be shot. I was in the hospital for a while and in a wheelchair for even longer, but fortunately, I had a miracle recovery over the summer and I'm back to where I used to be. It was a difficult time in my life and I try to not think about it too much but to give thanks to God for getting me back here.
My good friend Craig Manning helped me to make this journal: jbtheplayer. I am a player in three senses of the word: 1.) basketball player, 2.) bass player, 3.) player with the ladies. Not really, though. He made me say that. I'm very faithful to my girl.
Let's see, what else can I write about. I guess this is a journal after all, so I'll tell you a little bit about my day. Woke up, showered, schooled, basketballed, Hazeled. So maybe I'll need a little bit of work at this whole journaling thing, but oh well. I'm a little bit better with AOL messanger. The screenname is baller 4 lyfeee. Hit it up. |
